A common approach to dealing with tobacco odor in casinos is the injection of masking agents - perfumes into the ventilated space, most commonly by a self-contained system that mists the chemical compound directly into the supply air ducts. This approach has several flaws:Masking agents ADD to the chemical soup in the air, whereas Casino Air technology destroys tobacco odor molecules and reduces the total volatile organic compound (VOC) load. The tobacco odor is still present, its just partially hidden, so customers may not be as cognizant of smoke smell while theyre in the casino, but their clothes still reek of tobacco (and cheap perfume) when they leave. Many of the people who are most sensitized to tobacco odors and VOCs are similarly affected by the chemical compounds in the masking agents, so for some customers the masking agents actually make the problem worse.Substantial variations in concentration levels can and do occur creating oppressively high levels of the fragrance in close proximity to the source and observably lower levels at a distance from it.

Masking agents do nothing to reduce the embedded odor load in all the finish surfaces. As the finish surfaces approach their saturation point, off-gassing during low-occupancy periods increases and the beneficial effects of the "sink effect" during high-occupancy periods diminishes (meaning, the odor load on Friday/Saturday nights gets worse because the finish surfaces are saturated and can't adsorb any more gas molecules). So you're going to need more masking agents as time progresses. With Casino Air technology, after a period of 90-180 days (depending on the size of the casino and the degree of adsorption that has already occurred), the odors embedded in the finish surfaces have all been oxidized and the casino never smells like smoke again.Masking agents are expensive and the cost is perpetual.Casino Air technology is a one-time purchase. You will pay for masking agents forever. Casino Air technology actually solves the problem while masking agents are no more than a smoke-screen.
